AFWC GALA DINNER CELEBRATES THE FINEST AMERICAN-MADE WINES

The third AFWC Gala Dinner is on March 13, 2010 at the Lincoln Culinary Institute (formerly the Florida Culinary Institute). The competition and judging of wines took place on January 17 and 18, 2010, also at the Lincoln Culinary Institute.

This year’s event is shaping up to be extraordinary.  If you love wine and food, there is no other annual event like this. With more than 500 submissions this year- there are truly incredible wines available for tasting at the Gala dinner.  What a treat!  Seats are limited so people should reserve early.

The American Fine Wine Competition is one of the nation’s most prominent wine events that celebrates only American produced wine. The highly anticipated Gala dinner will feature all the competition wines and a five-star, five-course dinner prepared by some of South Florida’s most revered chefs: Cindy Hutson of Ortanique on the Mile, Oliver Saucy of Café Maxx, Johnny Vinczencz of Johnny V Restaurant, and Michael Wagner of Lola’s on Harrison.

As guests sip and swirl these special wines, they will enjoy live entertainment by jazz singer Nicole Henry and famed performance artist Michael Israel, who will create original works of art for the live auction. Other auction items include gift baskets of the featured wines signed by the winemakers themselves. A portion of the proceeds from ticket sales, and 100 percent of the proceeds from the auctions, will benefit Quantum House, the American Red Cross and the Lincoln Culinary Institute Scholarship Program. To date, the AFWC has raised more than $240,000 for local non-profits.

Some of the 515 wines represented and poured at the dinner include:  Tayson Pierce, Perry Moore, Pride, DeLoach, Rombauer, Joseph Phelps, Markham, Alexandria Nicole, Topel, Z’Ivo, Trentadue, Arcadian, Acorn, Darioush, Mithra, Fess Parker, Black Coyote, Brochelle, Cubanisimo, Keenan, Fritz, EOS, Arrowood, Thomas Fogarty, Robledo, Boorman, Stonestreet, O’Brien Estates, Cosentino, Schug, Nicholas Cole, Vin du Lac, Russian Hill, Delille Cellars, Cubanisimo, Krupp Brothers, Eberle, Ferrante, Kluge, DH Lascombes, Quady, Sequana, Ballentine, Castello di Amorosa, Sbragia, Ravenswood, Oakville Ranch, Pear Valley, Mercer Estates, McKeon Phillips, Spring  Mountain, Sea Biscuit Ranch…haven’t heard of a lot of them?  You are about to taste the greatest wines produced in the U.S!
